Galatasaray win 20th Turkish title as seven-man Fenerbahçe draw
Galatasaray were crowned champions of Turkey?s top flight for a record 20th time on May 25, after perennial Istanbul rivals Fenerbahçe had four men sent off in a 2-2 draw at Ba?ak?ehir.
With one round of games remaining, Fenerbahçe needed nothing less than a win against Ba?ak?ehir, a fast-growing Istanbul side, to keep any title hopes alive.
Fenerbahçe clings to top of league with Sivasspor win
Fenerbahçe narrowly beat Medicana Sivasspor 3-2 in an away match May 9 to sit in second place in the Turkish Spor Toto Super League, keeping pace with league-leading Galatasaray.
Sivasspor took the lead in the eighth minute when Mehdi Taouil scored the opening goal of the game to put the home side up 1-0. Just a minute later, Fenerbahçe playmaker Diego replied to make it 1-1.
Fenerbahçe wins to take over league lead
Fenerbahçe beat Bursaspor 1-0 at home in a Spor Toto Super League game on April 20 to take over the top spot in the standings.
A goal in the 84th minute by Cameroonian striker Pierre Webo gave the new leader the victory in a game Fenerbahçe had hoped to win more easily.
