Fenerbahçe clings to top of league with Sivasspor win

Fenerbahçe narrowly beat Medicana Sivasspor 3-2 in an away match May 9 to sit in second place in the Turkish Spor Toto Super League, keeping pace with league-leading Galatasaray.  

Sivasspor took the lead in the eighth minute when Mehdi Taouil scored the opening goal of the game to put the home side up 1-0. Just a minute later, Fenerbahçe playmaker Diego replied to make it 1-1.

Sivasspor took the lead back when Brazilian right-back Cicinho found the net from a free kick in the 24th minute, 2-1.

Visitors Fenerbahçe increased the pressure to make the score even in the second half and striker Pierre Webo put the ball into the net by smashing it in the area in the 56th minute, 2-2. This goal encouraged Fenerbahçe.   
Near the end of the game, Fenerbahçe completed the comeback after forward Moussa Sow?s late winner, 3-2.

Securing the critical win in Sivas helped Fenerbahçe to stay in the middle of the league title race. The Yellow Canaries are now up to 66 points in the standings, keeping pace with leaders Galatasaray, who have 67 points after a victory May 8 against Konyaspor in week 30. 

Meanwhile, Bursaspor blazed away at Kardemir Karabükspor by an extravagant 7-1 result. Bursaspor?s Brazilian striker Fernandao scored four goals in Bursa.
