The Alliance, which comprises a number of centrist, conservative and right-wing parties, indicated it would not go back on a decision confirmed on September 16 to boycott the election.

The only three towns in Serbia in which the Serbian Progressive Party is not in power have filed a joint complaint to the Congress of Local Governments of the Council of Europe, asking it to examine allegations of abuse of democracy.

The Serbian Hydrometeorological Institute issued an 'orange' weather alert on Monday, warning people to be prepared for severe weather and heavy rains that could cause flooding in the eastern and south-western parts of the country.

The Institute warned that the water levels of several rivers in these regions might increase on Monday and Tuesday, possibly causing localised flooding.
