Opposition HDP lawmaker İdris Baluken detained in Ankara

People's Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker İdris Baluken was detained again following an appeal against his release in a case filed as part of a terror investigation on Feb. 21, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported. 

The court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on Feb. 17 had issued an arrest warrant for HDP Diyarbakır deputy Baluken.

HDP co-leader faces jail over 'insulting' President Erdoğan

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-leader Figen Yüksekdağ is facing a prison sentence of up to five years on charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a judicial source said Feb. 10.        

A court accepted an indictment prepared by the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office demanded a prison term for Yüksekdağ ranging from one to five years.

Jailed Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş was acquitted on Jan. 19 of charges of "carrying out terror propaganda" in a speech delivered in the southeastern province of Mardin last year amid a curfew in another southeastern town.
