The wife of the murderer of Pınar Gültekin, a 27-year-old university student who was killed in the Aegean province of Muğla last year, has been included in the high profile femicide case.

Lake Marmara in Turkey's western province of Manisa has almost dried up due to years of low rainfall and misusage of its water for agricultural purposes.

Created by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) for agricultural irrigation in 1945, the lake used to give an average of 150 million cubic meters of water per year to the Gediz Plain.

He said 'No', only to be approached again earlier this year, this time for the annex of his house.

"They asked if they could put in 15 machines," said Selim, who asked that his real name not be used. "First they offered me 15 euros per unit [per month], then they increased it to 20 euros."

Lake Marmara, a major bird sanctuary in the western province of Manisa, has dried up due to drought.

The lake offers shelter to some 20,000 waterfowls, including endangered bird species, such as cormorants and pelicans.
