Local authorities reported that Ukraine's air defense systems successfully repelled the attack on the capital, with several Russian drones being intercepted and shot down.

A Russian attack on Kiev killed two people early Wednesday, Ukrainian officials said, while Russia accused Ukraine of launching what appeared to be the biggest drone attack on Russian soil since Moscow sent troops there 18 months ago.

The head of the military administration of the city of Kyiv, Sergei Popko, reported that Russia had launched 12 drones towards Kyiv, but that Ukrainian air defense forces had identified and destroyed "all enemy targets" in the airspace around the capital, reports Reuters.
