Tirana's Special Court Against Organised Crime and Corruption found Sokol Bode, chief of police in the southern Albanian village of Dhermi, guilty in absentia.

Bode has been on the run since Italian police cracked a cannabis smuggling ring dubbed 'the Habilaj Brothers.'

Brnabic gave this statement at the summit of the leaders of the Western Balkans in Tirana, in response to the request of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who called on Serbia to recognize the so-called Kosovo, the media report.

Albanian language daily Epika e Re is reporting that said there was "major engagement on the rule of law and war against corruption and organized crime during the last seven months."

Tanjug reported this on Tuesday, citing UNMIK's Media Observer.

After the reports from the villages of Dropoli in Northern Epirus, Southern Albania, of numerous robberies exclusively on Greek villages and lootings of Greek families’ houses, the phenomenon is spreading to all Greek inhabited areas taking really dangerous dimensions.

Interior Minister Tahiri said in a statement on Wednesday that "joint concrete work has started between the Ministry of Interior, the police and the FBI on the creation of... a National Bureau of Investigations".

No agreement in Brussels, talks to resume
