Türkiye has ascended to the top of Europe's child obesity rankings, claiming the third spot globally, and experts think that a major culprit may be products sold in school canteens, emphasizing the urgent need for heightened inspections.

As Turkey tries to lower daily salt consumption, thousands of restaurants could be preparing to remove the much-maligned condiment from their tables.       

Istanbul-based All Restaurants and Suppliers' Association is planning to discuss this issue during an executive meeting at the end of this month, an industry source said on condition of anonymity.

The head of the Turkish Kidney Foundation has sent a letter to Turkey's health minister demanding him to take action against a recent court ruling which has prompted fears of increased organ trade in the country. 

Two Turkish courts have annulled procedures of an organ transplant commission prohibiting organ donation to third parties, a move that may encourage illegal organ trade according to an organ donation foundation.
