Nobel laureate writer Orhan Pamuk slams climate of 'fear' in Turkey
Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2006, has denounced what he described as a climate of "fear" in his country, in an interview published in daily Hürriyet on Dec. 7.
"The worst thing is that there's a fear. I find that everyone is afraid; it's not normal ... Freedom of expression has fallen to a very low level," Pamuk said.

Bulgaria Deputy DefMin 'Threat to National Security' - Patriotic Front
Orhan Ismailov, an ethnic Turk who has been appointed Deputy Minister of Defense, could disclose secret information to the Turkish intelligence, a nationalist leader has said.
Orhan Ismailov owes his "heady career" to the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), Valeri Simeonov, who co-chairs the nationalist coalition Patriotic Front, told the Bulgarian National Television.

Patriotic Front Backtracks on Ultimatum to Bulgarian Gov't
The Patriotic Front (PF) will not put into question the integrity of Bulgaria's ruling coalition, leaders of the front have announced.
The PF, a nationalist alliance which signed an agreement earlier in November to back the minority coalition, is protesting at a decision to appoint Orhan Ismailov, an ethnic Turk, to the Deputy Defense Minister's office.
