Bulgaria: New Series of Bomb Threats in dozens of Schools in Sofia, Varna and Burgas

A new series of bomb threats have been made to schools in Sofia, Varna and Burgas.

Around 10:05 a.m. this morning, 35 schools in Sofia received the threatening email, which claims that an explosive device has been planted in the school. This was reported to BNT by the head of the regional police - Vanya Kastreva.

700 Students in Sofia have COVID-19

Today the second school term begins, and the students from 1st to 6th grade, as well as those from 8th, 9th and 11th grade, are returning to school in Sofia. As of yesterday, 700 students were diagnosed with coronavirus.

This was stated by Vanya Kastreva, head of the Regional Education Management in the capital, on BNT.

Bulgaria's Education Minister Submits Resignation

Bulgarian Education Minister Todor Tanev submitted his resignation on Monday, the government's press service informs.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov demanded the resignation of Tanev last week over the systematic problems in the education system and the proposed controversial changes to the school curriculum which have not been subject to broad public discussion.

Bulgarian Deputy Education Minister to Step Down

Bulgarian Deputy Education Minister Vanya Kastreva will submit her resignation to Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

Kastreva said in an interview for private Bulgaria ON AIR on Monday that her resignation was the most logical step amid the chaos ensuing from the circulation of untruths concerning Bulgarian education.
