Bulgaria Railway Company Drops Trains and Lays Off Workers over Cash Shortage
State-owned Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) drops 38 trains off its schedule as of Monday due to a BGN 40 M reduction in its subsidy, its CEO has confirmed.
Apart from that, BDZ is also cutting staff in order to cope with the smaller amount of money.
Protests called in by trade unions against the move are expected in the coming days.

As many as 140 people could be left jobless and and 140 could be sold off if the government moves to slash the subsidy granted to Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ), the national carrier, the company's CEO has warned.
The money earmarked for 2015 amounts to BGN 140 M under current estimates, BGN 40 M down from this year, Vladimir Vladimirov told the Bulgarian National Television.
Vladimir Vladimirov to Head Bulgarian Railways Company Again
Vladimir Vladimirov, who had been board chairman of Bulgarian state railways company BDZ in 2009-2013, was elected executive director on Wednesday.
Velik Zanchev was elected BDZ board chairman, the Transport Ministry said in a statement.
