Istanbul Theater Festival lifts its curtains in Turkish metropolis

The 25th Istanbul Theater Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), kicked off yesterday in Turkey's largest city.

The festival will present the audience with a program extending from in-person productions to online screenings, from "ear theater" to complimentary panels, talks and reading theaters over the course of one month.

Famous Turkish actor becomes minimalist, moves to hotel

Defending a minimalist lifestyle, famous Turkish actor Nejat İşler has started living in a hotel room in Istanbul, saying that "life has fit in a backpack."

İşler, who was living in Bodrum, a world-renowned tourism hotspot in the southwestern province of Muğla, for over a decade, noted that he has currently moved to a hotel in Istanbul.

Istanbul’s 7 districts breeding grounds of mosquitoes, map shows

Around 193,000 regions in Istanbul's seven districts are main centers where mosquitoes breed, according to a "mosquito map of the city" presented at a health congress in the metropolis where international and local health experts gathered to find solutions against the invasion of mosquitoes.

Bus carrying irregular migrants overturns in eastern Turkey

Twelve people were killed and 20 sustained injuries after a minibus carrying illegal migrants crashed on July 11 in the Muradiye district of Van province.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), firefighters, gendarmerie and medical teams were sent to the scene after reports of the crush.
