Fairy chimneys in Narman district of the eastern province of Erzurum are on the way to become a member of the UNESCO World Heritage List if the region is turned into a geopark, an expert has said, refusing the claims that the region was once removed from UNESCO's tentative list.

If global warming continues at this rate, all glaciers on Türkiye's mountains will definitely melt, says Yıldırım Güngör, an associate professor from Istanbul University.

Efforts are underway to introduce the Nemrut Caldera, which is located at an altitude of 2,250 meters and welcomes thousands of local and foreign tourists every year in the eastern province of Bitlis' Tatvan district, to the world by including it in UNESCO's Global Geopark Network.
