Slovenia’s Expo Dubai pavilion ready for showcase

Ljubljana – Slovenia is to take over the management of its pavilion at Expo Dubai next week on the sidelines of Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek’s visit to the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition is to help with Slovenia’s economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, said the minister Tuesday.

Committee endorses Left’s amendments to STA act

Ljubljana – The parliamentary Culture Committee voted 10:8 in favour of amendments to the act governing the STA that would require the STA English Service to report on the work of NGO as a legal requirement, amidst warnings that the STA has still not received overdue payment from the government for the performance of public service.

Govt vows to keep helping companies

Brdo pri Kranju – The government on Friday pledged to continue to help companies that are increasingly struggling as the coronavirus crisis is not letting up. “We will help the economy pull through and begin recovering as soon as possible,” Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek said at a press conference in Brdo pri Kranju.

Delo: Draft audit report finds PPE purchases inefficient

Ljubljana – The Court of Audit has found the purchases of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the spring wave of coronavirus were inefficient, according to a leaked draft report obtained by the newspaper Delo. The report does not name anyone in particular as especially problematic.

Chamber with renewed call for opening of non-essential shops

Ljubljana – The Slovenian Chamber of Commerce (TZS) has called on the authorities to immediately relax the restrictive measures affecting non-essential shops in statistical regions with the most favourable epidemiological situation. It notes that shop owners are running out of contingency reserves and that state aid does not cover all costs.
