The Turkish Parliament will return from its summer recess on Oct. 1 with the opening speech by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Mahmut Özer as the country's new education minister following the resignation of Ziya Selçuk, according to a decree published on Aug. 6.

In the decision, it was stated that Selçuk's request for resignation was accepted.

Before Selçuk resigned, Özer was serving as his deputy.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed Mahmut Özer as the country's new education minister following the resignation of Ziya Selçuk, according to a notice published early on Aug. 6 in the Official Gazette.

Turkey will convene its Supreme Military Council (YAŞ) on Aug. 4, where decisions will be taken to name top military brass.

The YAŞ is convened every year to discuss promotions and dismissals of the high-ranking military personnel under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and with the participation of key civilian and military officials.

Turkey plans to reopen schools on Sept. 6 amid good progress with the country's vaccination drive, the national education minister said on July 5.

Ziya Selçuk made the announcement while speaking with the Turkish private news channel Habertürk.
