Ano Liosia

Police in northeastern Athens are investigating a shooting incident and the ramming of a patrol car.

The incident began shortly before midnight on Holy Thursday in the Ano Liosia district, at the junction of Fylis and Vlastou streets, when the driver of a silver SUV fired three shots at a black SUV with two occupants.

A 30-year-old man who had been on the run since a court convicted him of murder and illegal gun possession in 2011 was arrested in the central Greek town of Larissa Wednesday.

Seven buses carrying about 350 Syrian refugees, mainly families with young children, arrived shortly after 6pm at abandoned LM Village in Myrsini, Kyllini, which will be used as a refugee center.
