Turkey’s main opposition deputy removed from party after controversial speech
Main opposition Republican Peopleâs Party (CHP) deputy Süheyl Batum has been removed from the party due to a speech he made after the resignation of former CHP deputy Emine Ãlker Tarhan.
CHP EskiÅehir deputy Batum was removed from the CHP by the partyâs High Discipline Board on Dec. 11, over his speech in late October.
Former CHP dissident Tarhan forms a new party
Following her resignation from Turkeyâs main opposition Republican Peopleâs Party (CHP), Emine Ãlker Tarhan has founded a new political party.
The move comes two weeks after resigning from the CHP after severely criticizing the party's policies, which she claimed were âdetachedâ from the people and not conducive to it coming to power.
