People vs live music clamor
High-volume noise from music concerts has residents of two seaside Athens suburbs up in arms.
Plateia Nerou (Water Square), an open space next to the arena used for the tae kwon do competition in the 2004 Athens Olympics, has often been used for concerts, prompting residents of the suburbs of Kallithea and Palaio Faliro to shut their windows to spare themselves the aural blast.

ISAP station reopens after bomb threat closure
The Athens-Piraeus Electric Railway (ISAP) station in the southern Kallithea district was temporarily closed on Thursday due to a bomb threat. The station has resumed operations.
A bomb disposal unit has rushed to the scene.

Man arrested for fatal stabbing of 90-year-old grandmother
A man was arrested on Friday after stabbing his 90-year-old grandmother to death inside her apartment in the district of Kallithea, in Athens.
According to police sources, the 48-year-old suspect barged into the victim's house and attacked her with a knife. The woman was transferred to Evangelismos Hospital with serious injuries where she passed away.
Woman in Kallithea was attacked with vitriol, lab exam shows
The caustic substance that was splashed over a 34-year-old woman during an assault in southern Athens last week was identified at the State General Laboratory as sulphuric acid (vitriol), police sources told state-run news agency ANA-MPA on Monday.
Athens woman injured in possible acid attack
A 34-year-old woman in Athens suffered severe burns to her face when a woman sneaked up on her as she was heading to work in the district of Kallithea on Wednesday morning and splashed her with a caustic substance, police sources cited by state-run news agency ANA-MPA said Monday.
The suspect, who was wearing a face mask, fled after the attack.

Authorities in Athens are seeking the perpetrators behind a robbery in which a car were used to smash through the front windows of an electronics shop before the premises were looted.
The unidentified robbers drove a car through a store in the district of Peristeri, west of central Athens, at around 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, before grabbing valuable items.

Former husband nabbed over woman's murder in Athens
A 32-year-old foreign national was arrested on Friday in connection to the murder of his former wife in the Athenian district of Kallithea earlier this week and is expected to appear before a prosecutor later in the day.
The 29-year-old victim, identified as a Georgian national, was found dead in her apartment on May 13. The forensic report concluded she was strangled to death.
Arrests of 9 Turks Linked to Terror Fears
Nine Turkish nationals, suspected of belonging to a banned militant left-wing Turkish terror group, will face an investigative magistrate on Wednesday after Greek anti-terrorist units found bomb-making equipment and detonators during raids at three apartments in Athens on Tuesday, Ekathimerini reported.

Almost three in every 10 stores are shuttered, data show
The amount of shuttered storefronts as a percentage of all shops in central Athens has crept up, reversing the trend of the first half of the year, according to data released by the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Enterprises (ESEE).
In September empty stores amounted to 28.1 percent of the total across the country, with the rate in Athens coming to 26.4 percent.
