Hail Destroys Crops, Causes Damages in Northwestern Bulgaria

Hailstones the size of a walnut and bigger have hit Bulgaria's northwestern Montana and Boychinovtsi municipalities, Tuesday.

The hailstorm occurred in Montana approximately at the same time as it ravaged the capital city of Sofia, Tuesday at 5pm.

The heavy storm has broken windows, windshields, and has destroyed many crops, gardens and orchards, Dnes.bg informs.

29 Career Development Centers Opened in Bulgaria's Cities

A total of 29 Career Development Centers have started working in the country, Bulgaria's Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced Monday.

The career centers will operate in the cities of Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Gabrovo, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Plovdiv, Russe, Silistra, among others.

Code Yellow Issued for Northern, Eastern Bulgaria Over Strong Winds

Code Yellow for strong winds has been issued for fifteen regions in northern and eastern Bulgaria, said Bulgaria's Meteorology and Hydrology Institute, Thursday.

The warning concerns the regions of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Razgrad, Shumen, Targovishte, Silistra, Dobrich, Varna and Sliven.

Danube Bridge 2 Serviced Half Million Vehicles in One Year

Nearly half a million vehicles have run along Danube Bridge 2 connecting Bulgaria's north-western city of Vidin to Romania's Calafat since its launch on June 14, 2013.

The heaviest traffic is recorded in July, August and September, Vladimir Andreev, CEO of the company operating the facility, told Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.

Code Yellow for Dangerous Weather Declared in Western Bulgaria

Code Yellow for thunderstorms and torrential rains is announced for nine regions in western Bulgaria, said Bulgaria's Meteorology and Hydrology Institute.

In the late afternoon of May 29 are expected heavy rains and high winds, thunderstorms and hailstorms are also forecast.

The bad weather is expected to continue through Friday and Saturday.

Bulgarian police have dismantled a crime group involved in racketeering.

Ten members of the crime ring have been indicted by the specialized branch of the prosecuting authority.

The crime ring members were arrested in a special operation of the Chief Directorate National Police of the Interior Ministry managed by the specialized branch of the prosecuting authority.

Heavy rainfall has prompted a state of emergency in 2 northwestern municipalities of Bulgaria.

The municipalities of Chuprene and Ruzhintsi in the Vidin region have been the most affected by the intense rain in the past days. The nearby dam in Gyurgich overflowed on Wednesday night, but is reportedly under control now, Dariknews revealed.
