A group of people in the Aegean province of Mu?la gathered in memory of a young girl who was murdered on June 17, protesting the recent increase of violence against women across Turkey.

The mansion where archaeologist, painter and Turkey's first museum pioneer Osman Hamdi Bey lived for some time in the Aegean province of Mu?la's Yata?an district is closed, drawing reaction from locals.

At least six people have drowned after a boat carrying migrants to a Greek island sank in the Aegean Sea on April 6, Turkish officials have said.

Nine people were also rescued, the governor of the southwestern province of Mu?la, Amir Çiçek, told the Anadolu Agency.

The migrants, believed to be Syrians and Iraqis, were heading to Greece illegally.
