A platinum plaque, the highest honor, was awarded by the Municipality of Rhodes to a pair of British tourists who have visited the island more than 100 times.

The Municipality of Rhodes awarded a British couple a platinum plaque, honoring them for visiting the island over 100 times, it was announced on Monday. 

A quite important tool for the prevention of fires in the forests of Rhodes is the ICT system installed by Nova in the Butterfly Valley area of Rhodes, which can detect smoke, even in small quantities, within a radius of 15 kilometres!

Restoring the long-neglected National Theater of Rhodes is one of the top priorities in the capital of the southeastern Aegean island. The agreement for the project was signed recently by the South Aegean Regional Authority and the Municipality of Rhodes, with construction set to begin soon.

The head of the prosecutor's office of the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes on Thursday brought criminal charges against local authorities over the loss of life and damage cause by floods that swept through the island in November 2013.

Four people died in the flash floods caused by heavy rainfall, while homes and business suffered millions of euros in damages.
