Bulgaria: State of Emergency in Rhodopean Village over Manganese in Drinking Water

Missing British woman found dead, mauled by animals

Rescue workers on Saturday discovered the body of a 64-year-old British woman who had been missing since Thursday in the area of Maroneia, in the northern prefecture of Rodopi, which appeared to have been savaged by animals.

According to reports, the woman had telephoned relatives in London on Thursday afternoon, saying that she had been bitten by a stray dog.

A shooting in the area of the market in the town of Kardzhali around noon on Monday claimed the life of a thirty-year-old man.
