Seven dead after tractor carrying workers overturns in Turkey's Sakarya

At least seven people were killed and nine others were injured after a tractor carrying nut workers overturned in the Hendek district of the northwestern province of Sakarya on Aug. 18.

The cause of the accident in the Köseköy neighborhood at around 7:25 a.m. was not immediately known.

Around one-and-a-half tons of heroin seized in poultry farm in Turkey's Sakarya

Turkish anti-drug squads have seized 1.4 tons of heroin in a poultry farm in the northwestern province of Sakarya in an operation, the governor of Istanbul said on July 26. 

Governor Vasip Şahin told reporters that it was the highest amount of heroin seized in a ground operation in the last 15 years.

Two men who confessed to killing a pregnant Syrian woman and her baby in the northwestern province of Sakarya last week have told officials during their testimonies they also planned to kill the husband before they were caught, daily Milliyet reported on July 8.

Pregnant Syrian woman raped, killed with baby in Turkey's northwest

A pregnant Syrian woman was raped and killed with her 10-month-old baby in the northwestern province of Sakarya on July 6. 

Emani Arrahman, who was nine months pregnant, was kidnapped in Sakarya's Kaynarca district with her baby and was taken to the woods before being brutally murdered.
