PKK militants attack commission investigating Elçi's death for second time

Militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attacked a commission investigating the killing of Diyarbak?r Bar Association head Tahir Elçi on Nov. 30. The incident marks the second attack on the group investigating the site where Elçi was killed in the southeastern city of Diyarbak?r's Sur district. 

Historic structures damaged in Diyarbak?r

The historic city walls of Diyarbak?r, as well as two churches and a mosque, were damaged during clashes in the central district of Sur Conflicts in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r?s central district of Sur have damaged ancient city walls, which were recently inducted onto UNESCO?s World Heritage List, as well as some other structures. 

Two police officers killed, three wounded in PKK attack in Diyarbak?r

Two police officers were killed and three colleagues were injured early Sept. 6 in an armed action by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers? Party (PKK) in response to continued operations by security services against the militant group?s youth wing in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r.

Seven injured as group attacks fast-breaking dinner organized by US consulate in Diyarbakır

A crowd protested a fast-breaking dinner organized in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır by the U.S. consulate in Adana for Ramadan on July 15, attacking the tent where the food was prepared and served.

Seven people, including a police officer, were injured during the scuffles that erupted after the group’s attack. Two of the injured underwent surgery.
