Pandemics throughout history have determined the fate of some wars, one of which was the Trojan War, an archaeology academic has said.

The Nusret Mine Ship, which changed the fate of the war with the mines laid in the strait during the Dardanelles Campaign, takes its visitors on a historical journey in the Tarsus district of the southern province of Mersin, where it has been exhibited since 2003 after its restoration.

Turkey on March 18 marked the 106th anniversary of Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day and commemorated the fallen soldiers who lost their lives during naval and ground battles in Çanakkale (Gallipoli Campaign) during World War I.

Construction of a key bridge in northwestern Turkey connecting Europe and Asia has picked up speed with the completion of a temporary road, according to information received by Anadolu Agency. 

Upon its completion, the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge will become the world's longest mid-span suspension bridge with its unique structural characteristics, colors and other features.

The 1915 Çanakkale Bridge in northwestern Turkey is well on its way to becoming the world's longest suspension bridge with towers taller than the Eifel Tower, a significant landmark of Paris.

With the construction of Çanakkale 1915 Bridge, Turkey realizes centuries' dream, said the Turkish president on May 16. 

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended via videoconference to the ceremony for the placement of the last steel block of 318-meter (1,043-feet) towers of the bridge in the country's northwestern Çanakkale province.

Turkey's president on March 17 marked 105th anniversary of Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Day and remembered the fallen soldiers who lost their lives during naval and ground battles in Çanakkale (Gallipoli Campaign) during the World War I.

A total of 41,112 vessels passed through Turkey's Bosphorus Strait in 2019, according to official data.

The number of vessels using the strait was unchanged with the previous year's figures of 41,103, the country's Transportation and Infrastructure Ministry announced.
