Gazprom Approves Capital Increase of South Stream Transport B.V.

The Board of Directors of Gazprom has approved a capital increase of EUR 569.4 M for South Stream Transport B.V.

A total of EUR 109.7 M were included in its capital in the final quarter of 2014 and a total of EUR 459.7 M is to be included in its capital in the first quarter of 2015, according to a media statement of Gazprom, as cited by the TASS news agency.

Turkey has replaced Ukraine since Russia declared the suspension of the long-planned South Stream project in early December 2014. In other words: Russia is going to build a new pipeline via Turkey, called the ?Turkish Stream,? which will transport Russian gas to Europe via Turkey instead of Ukraine.

Putin Says Russia 'Could Build Bulgaria Offshoot of Turkish Stream'

Russia might direct a new pipe to Bulgaria functioning as a ramification of its planned gas pipeline to Turkey, President Vladimir Putin has hinted.

Speaking at a press conference after his meeting with Hungarian officials on Tuesday, he added such a project might be carried out if it could rely on EU funding.

US' first comment on Turkish Stream

Russian President Vladimir Putin caused a shockwave around the world, specifically in Europe, when he declared the suspension of the long-planned South Stream project during his visit to Istanbul in early December 2014. He pulled another rabbit out of his hat with his next statement: ?We will build a new pipeline via Turkey instead.?
