EU Benefits Our Countries, Balkan People Tell Survey
A significant majority of Bulgarian, Romanian and Croat citizens believe EU membership is good for their country, according to a survey on views of the EU released by the European Parliament on Wednesday.
Among the citizens of the three Balkan member states, Croats trust the EU the most, with 68 per cent saying that their country had benefitted from EU membership.
Bucharest Criticised for 'Profligate' Beautification Spending
The Bucharest municipality spent around 600 million euro between 2007 and 2014 to establish and maintain green spaces in the city but a lot of the money was wasted on unnecessary purchases, according to a report from national audit office Curtea de Conturi.
Support for Euro Rises in EU-19
Support for the euro has increased among citizens of the euro area in 2015, reaching an all-time high, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey of the European Commission.
An overall 61% of respondents have confirmed that they see the European single currency as good for their own country, compared to 57% last year, the Commission said on its website.

Serbian Eurosceptism Remains Strong, Survey Says
The new survey Eurobarometer by the European Commission, released on Wednesday, suggests that people in Serbia are the most sceptical about EU membership in the Balkans.
About 42 per cent of the people surveyed in Serbia believe that the country's membership of the EU would a good thing while 22 per cent consider it would be negative for the country.

Greek engraver wins competition to design logo for a commemorative 2-euro coin
Here’s some good news on the “Greece-Euro” front!
Greek central bank engraver George Stamatopoulos on Thursday won a Europe-wide competition to design the logo for a commemorative two-euro coin to be unveiled in July.
According to DW, his design had been preselected by a jury alongside designs from Spain, Slovenia, Italy and Cyprus.
Greek design picked for commemorative euro coin
Greece's future in the euro may be in doubt, but the EU has nevertheless picked a Greek design for a special coin for the 30th anniversary of the bloc's official flag.
With no discernible irony, the two-euro coin designed by Georgios Stamatopoulos of the Bank of Greece was chosen by 30 percent of 100,000 voters in an online competition by the European Commission.
