A court in southern Germany has convicted three Syrian men over the drowning deaths of 13 migrants off the coast of Greece in September 2015.

Prosecutors accused the men of "professional smuggling of people resulting in death."

Soldiers who were seen in video footage mistreating Syrian refugees at the border have been detained, the Turkish Armed Forces stated on July 30. 

The army said that "all necessary administrative and legal procedures" have been launched into the soldiers. 

At least 24 people were killed in a car bomb attack in the Afghan capital Kabul. At least 42 people have been injured, the World Agencies have reported. The attack took place about 6.45am local time by a suicide bomber who blew up a car bomb.

An errant U.S. airstrike confirmed by the Pentagon killed 12 Afghan National Police officers and wounded two others, as another 11 police were killed and six wounded in clashes with the Taliban, Afghan officials said on July 22.

At a time when the number of racist attacks targeting Syrian refugees in Turkey is on the rise, the United Metalworkers' Union (Birleşik Metal İş Sendikası) issued a report called "Syrian Refugee Labor." We have thus seen once again how most of the three million Syrian refugees are living under difficult conditions here.

Taliban gunmen have killed eight Afghan guards working at the largest American base in Afghanistan, officials said yesterday, as the U.S. appears set to boost its troop presence in the country.

The guards were ambushed near Bagram base north of Kabul as they were driving home in a convoy late June 19, said district governor Abdul Shakoor Quddusi.

Two soldiers and one civilian were wounded on June 9 in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) car bomb attack near a military station in the southeastern province of Batman, Doğan News Agency has reported.

One Syrian man was stabbed to death on June 6 during a brawl between two Syrian groups in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

A group of around 30 Syrian refugees Thursday blocked the entrance to the Moria reception center on Lesvos, demanding their immediate transfer to the Kara Tepe camp, another facility on the eastern Aegean island where living conditions are better.

An armed conflict erupted in front of the police headquarters in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, private broadcaster CNN Türk has reported. 

A number of ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

One militant was killed in clashes, the channel said.
