Egypt's Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, headed on Wednesday to Sofia, Bulgaria, for talks on illegal immigration, combating terrorism and other bilateral issues, reports MENAFN. 

Developments over the last few years have upset many of the traditional relationships and partnerships in the Eastern Mediterranean and Greece now finds itself at the center of the new stage that has emerged.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borshov meets with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, on 23rd of October. This is the third day of PM's Middle East tour, reports BNT.

PM Borissov arrived in the Egyptian capital Cairo in the evening on 22nd of October after his visit to the United Arab Emirates.

He was welcomed by Prime Minister Mostafa Kemal Madbouly.

The leaders of Greece and Egypt on Wednesday backed efforts by regional ally Cyprus to exploit off-shore gas deposits, despite strong objection from Turkey.

The leaders of Greece, Egypt and Cyprus are meeting on the island of Crete to discuss furthering regional cooperation, including oil and gas exploration rights in the east Mediterranean and efforts to combat illegal immigration to Europe.

Technical talks between Greece and Egypt on delineating the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) must be wrapped by the end of the year, the leaders of the two countries agreed, government sources in Athens say.

Despite the volatile geopolitical conditions in the Eastern Mediterranean and the constant threats coming from Turkish strongman Recep Tayyip Erdogan's direction, Cyprus appears to remain unaffected.

CAIRO - 25 September 2018: Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said that Egypt is Bulgaria's key economic and trade partner in the Middle East and Africa, citing the increase in trade exchange between the two countries. 

Greece took part in the multinational military exercise Bright Star 2018 that began on September 8 and ended on Thursday.

Land, air, naval and special forces from Greece, Egypt, the US, Jordan and Saudi Arabia took part in the exercise off the coast of Egypt.

It was coordinated by the Egyptian Armed Forces and the US Central Command.

Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti is reporting this on Thursday.

The newspaper said it received confirmation from diplomatic circles that there is willingness in Egypt to change the decision to recognize Kosovo, made five years ago - but that the right moment is being awaited.
