Top Bosnian Judicial Official Faces Disciplinary Probe

The Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor, UDT, of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, HJPC, on Friday filed a disciplinary action against Milan Tegeltija, president of the HJPC, for "a serious violation of official duty, jeopardizing public trust in the impartiality and credibility of the judiciary".

Glyfada burglar shooter released

An 88-year-old man who was charged with shooting two burglars that entered his home in Glyfada, southern Athens, on Monday has been granted conditional release.

He will not be able to leave the country pending his trial.

The man, who reports said appeared frail in court, told a prosecutor on Tuesday that he opened fire out of fear and had no intention to kill.

CPJ welcomes call for EU directive against SLAPPs

The call came from members of the European Parliament on Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, the organization said.

Such lawsuits, known as strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPPs), can harass and intimidate journalists into silence by requiring them to make repeated court appearances and pay exorbitant legal fees, a statement said.

Vassilev Pushes for US Sanctions Against Bulgaria
