Ferry passengers stranded in Alexandroupoli due to engine failure
Hundreds of people were stranded on the port of Alexandroupoli in northern Greece on Wednesday morning after a mechanical failure on a Zante Ferries vessel.
It happened on the Adamantios Korais ferry ahead of the 7 a.m. departure for the islands of Samothraki and Limnos.
The company said that 597 passengers were on board.
Alexandroupoli-Samothraki service to resume on Monday
The Adamantios Korais ferryboat will be inaugurating a new service between the port of Alexandroupoli in northern Greece and the north Aegean island of Samothraki on Monday.
Gonda Van Steen | Athens | April 3
"Adoption, Memory and Cold War Greece" is the subject of a lecture that Gonda Van Steen, a professor at King's College, London, will deliver at the British School library on Wednesday, April 3. Van Steen is the Koraes Chair of Modern Greek and Byzantine History, Language and Literature, and director of the Center for Hellenic Studies. The Athens lecture starts at 7 p.m.
