The Kosovo prosecution said on Monday that police have arrested a man identified only by the initials M.D. on suspicion of committing war crimes in the Peja/Pec region of Kosovo in May 1999.

The Kosovo state prosecution told BIRN on Wednesday that it will appeal against Pristina Basic Court's verdict acquitting ex-premier Agim Ceku and 11 co-defendants of abusing their official positions to add people to a government-approved list of Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA war veterans eligible for benefits.

Hysni Gucati, the head of the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans' Organisation, confirmed on Tuesday that former KLA doctor Fadil Beka has been asked to give an interview to the Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Prosecution.

Former Kosovo Liberation Army member Bashkim Gashi has rejected an invitation to give an interview about his role in the 1998-99 war to the Hague-based Specialist Prosecutor's Office, the Association of KLA Veterans said on Monday, TV21 reported.

The Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Prosecution has summoned Lulzim Kabashi, a former commander of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, for questioning on allegations of crimes committed during the Kosovo independence war of the late-1990s.

"I have been invited by Hague prosecutors in the capacity of witness," Kabashi told BIRN.

He is due in The Hague on 24 September.

The Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency's report on the declaration of wealth of public servants, published on Thursday, revealed that Rrustem Mustafa, popularly known as 'Remi', has been an adviser to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci for the last four months, unknown to the public.

The Hague-based Specialist Prosecutor’s Office has interviewed former Kosovo Liberation Army commander Sylejman Selimi - who was recently freed from jail after a war crimes sentence - as a suspect, his lawyers said.

The two organizations stated this on Tuesday in a press release entitled, "War criminals have no place in government!"

Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj was criticised by rights campaigners for appointing recently-released war crimes convict Sylejman Selimi, a former Kosovo Liberation Army commander, as his political adviser.

Former Kosovo Liberation Army commander Sylejman Selimi, who was convicted of war crimes for torturing a civilian prisoner at a KLA detention site, was released on probation.
