Former PM and AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj was detained on Wednesday by police in eastern France on a flight from Pristina on the basis of a Serbian arrest warrant that alleges he committed war crimes while he was a guerrilla commander with the Kosovo Liberation Army, KLA, during the war in Kosovo.

His family confirmed the arrest on Wednesday to Kosovo's public broadcaster RTK.

Kosovo’s appeals court jailed former senior Kosovo Liberation Army members Sylejman Selimi and Sami Lushtaku for war crimes against civilian prisoners during the 1998-99 conflict, their lawyers said.

Interpol has issued ‘red notices’ for 17 former members of Serbian forces, including a ruling party MP, over allegations that they committed war crimes in Kosovo in April 1999.
