A 70-year-old farmer is fighting for his life after being shot in a violent attack in the village of Villandredo, Rethymno, Crete. The assailants, wearing masks, ambushed the farmer at his livestock facility on Friday morning. As soon as he entered the premises, he was shot multiple times, leaving him in critical condition.

A wildfire broke out in Kanevos, located in the Rethymno region of Crete, on Monday.

The blaze, which is consuming scrubland, is being fought by 35 firefighters using nine fire engines and two helicopters.

The 112 emergency alert system has issued a message instructing residents of Agios Vasileios to be prepared for evacuation if necessary.
