Investigation underway into death of woman in well

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was retrieved from a well near Agrinio, western Greece.

The body of the 58-year-old woman was found in the village of Kyparissos on Monday after relatives alerted the authorities.

Police and six firefighters attended the scene and retrieved the body.

Popular rapper nabbed armed

A well-known local rapper was arrested late on Friday night outside Agrinio in Central Greece in possession of illegal weapons.

The trap music artist was traveling to another Greek city to give a concert when he was stopped by police officers near the Riganis toll road.

4.7 magnitude earthquake on the Richter Scale was registered in northern Greece.

Athens' Geodynamics Institute reports that the tremor struck at 6:08 p.m. (1508 GMT) Saturday about 30 kilometres  northwest of the city of Agrinio at a depth of 28 kilometres.

There is no information for serious damages and injured people.

Meteorologists forecast slight dip in sweltering weather

After a sweltering weekend that saw temperatures reach as high as 39 degrees Celsius in the Peloponnese, meteorologists forecast a dip early in the week. 

According to counting stations of the National Observatory of Athens, temperatures reached 38.9 in Messinia, 38.5 in Aitoloacarnania, 38.2 in Ileia, 37.7 in Agrinio and 37.3 in Trikala.

Teenager hospitalised with head injury during anti-fascist rally in Agrinio

A 19-year-old woman was being treated in a hospital in the city of Ioannina, in western Greece, on Wednesday after she was hit in the face by an object during an anti-fascist march in Agrinio to commemorate a 36-year-old rapper killed by a self-professed member of Golden Dawn five years ago.
