It will be a Little More Expensive to Get Into the Center of London with an Old Car

From yesterday, owners of older, dirtier cars will be charged an extra £10 if they want to drive into London. The Mayor, Saddiq Khan, announced the "Toxicity charge" in February as part of a package of measures to clean up the capital's "filthy air".

Pollution seen related to one in 12 deaths in Greece

One in every 12 deaths in Greece is related to pollution, about half the rate recorded globally, according to a US scientific survey.

The report published in "The Lancet" medical journal said that approximately 9,800 deaths from a total of 122,000 in Greece in 2015 were related to pollution, i.e. some 8 percent.

Istanbul 3rd worst city in world for road rage: Research

Istanbul has been ranked as third worst city in the world for road rage, according to research carried out by German automobile company kfzteile2. 

The study also put Istanbul in the worst 10 cities for traffic congestion.

Dusseldorf ranked first in terms of low levels of traffic, good public transport and high road quality, while India's Kolkata ranked last. 

5,000 'Dieselgate' deaths in Europe per year: Study

Emissions from diesel cars rigged to appear eco-friendly may be responsible for 5,000 air pollution deaths per year in Europe alone, according to a study published Sept. 18.

The numbers are in line with previous assessments of deaths due to the so-called "Dieselgate" scandal, which erupted when carmaker Volkswagen admitted in 2015 to cheating on vehicle emissions tests.
