EOPYY introduces digital tools for patients to monitor prescriptions and costs

The National Organization for Healthcare Services (EOPYY) is empowering patients to oversee their healthcare costs and prescriptions starting next year.

EOPYY head Theano Karpodini announced that patients will have electronic access to prescriptions and services, confirming they were issued correctly.

From January, a new security system will link patients' phone numbers. For each prescription tied to a patient's social security number (AMKA), they will receive a one-time passcode for approval. Additionally, patients can monitor their electronic health files, reject fraudulent charges, and file digital complaints about irregularities.

Karpodini reported that in 2024, 33,000 complaints about excessive or illegal charges were submitted, with 23,000 cases investigated. Future goals include leveraging the digital transformation to enhance service quality and...
