Uh-oh, those summer flights

Flight delays have become routine in recent years, not only in Greece, but also at the European level.

Last year, in the 43 countries belonging to the European Aviation Safety Agency (Eurocontrol), three in 10 flights arrived over 15 minutes late, while on average planes would depart 17.8 minutes later than scheduled.

Airport passenger traffic up 14.4% in first quarter

Passenger traffic at the country's 39 airports increased by 14.4% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the corresponding period in 2023.

A total of 7,876,353 passengers used the airports in the first three months of the year, compared to 6,884,904 passengers in the first quarter of last year.

In the same period, the number of flights also increased by 7.8% to 70,271.

Air traffic controllers to walk off the job on April 9 after colleague’s death

Greek air traffic controllers will hold a work stoppage from 8 a.m. to noon on April 9 to protest inadequate staffing following the death of a colleague while on duty at the Thessaloniki's International Airport last Monday.

During the strike, no flights will depart from or land in Greek airports.

Greek air traffic controllers’ strike to ground flights on February 28

Flights to and from Greek airports will be grounded February 28 when air traffic controllers will walk off the job to join a 24-hour nationwide strike public sector union ADEDY demanding pay rises.

Airlines are expected to cancel all the domestic and international flights.

The only the flights allowed will be emergency air transport.

Strikes Threaten Chaos at German Airports

A nationwide warning strike by security personnel on February 1 is poised to cause significant disruptions at major airports across Germany.
