‘Women Heroes’ conference to empower female entrepreneurs in Athens

Feminin Pluriel Greece, a new initiative for women in business and part of Global Femenin Pluriel, is launching conference, titled "Women Heroes," at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (7 Akadimias) from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.

Traffic closures planned on March 25 for Independence Day parade

Streets in downtown Athens will be closed to traffic on March 25 due to the school and military parades that will be held to celebrate Greece's Independence Day.

No traffic will be allowed on Vassilisis Sofias, Amalias, and Georgiou A Avenues, as well as Herodou Attikou, Panepistimiou, Stadiou, Filellinon, and Akadimias streets.

Every time a new building is unveiled in Athens, usually following a reconstruction, I wait anxiously to see the facade. The scale model, when it exists, may suggest the result but it does not show the quality of the materials, nor the integration of the new building into the surrounding environment. Traffic restrictions announced for Erdogan visit

Traffic restrictions will be in place in downtown Athens on Thursday for the official visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, police have announced.

Measures include the gradual and temporary restriction of circulation traffic, and a ban on stopping and parking at several sections of the road network.

MeRA25 fined over illegal posters, leaflets

The Municipality of Athens has imposed a 15,900-euro fine on radical leftist party MeRA25 over illegal posters and pre-election leaflets.

It said the services of the municipality on Friday found election posters on Panepistimiou, Akadimias, Ippokratous and Rigas Feraiou streets, but also leaflets strewn. "It is the first time that such a fine has been imposed," the municipality said.
