No World Cup, no sun, no beer: Cool, rainy early summer hurts consumption
The relatively cool and rainy weather that prevailed in Greece up until mid-July this year has significantly impacted beer consumption in the country compared to last year.
In the first seven months of the year, consumption of beer declined by almost 10 percent.
Beer from Greek microbreweries gaining popularity at home and abroad
On a recent voyage in the Aegean, I was quite excited to notice the bar of the ship we were traveling in had a wide variety of Greek beers to chose from, including two from microbreweries. They were quite delicious. Later, at a restaurant in a mountain village on a small island, we were even more surprised when we spotted a locally made ale on the menu.
Cool Summer of 2014 Lowered Beer Consumption in Bulgaria by 5 %
The unusually cool and rainy summer of 2014 lowered the sales of Bulgarian brewers and the consumption of beer by 5 %.
This was announced by the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria, who stated that they had sold 4 873 350 hectolitres of beer in 2014.
The brewers continued to expand their portfolio as they released ten new brands in 2014, daily Dnevnik reports.
