'Win-win' on the name issue
Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) are tantalizingly close to resolving their dispute over the "name issue." Skopje created conditions conducive to negotiations by eliminating irredentist symbols. Alexander the Great Airport was renamed Skopje Airport and Alexander the Great Highway became the Friendship Highway.

Alexander the Great pulled from FYROM airport in gesture
The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) has begun the process of changing the name of its airport honoring the ancient warrior king Alexander the Great as a goodwill gesture to Greece.
Turkish consortium TAV, which operates Skopje Alexander the Great Airport, started removing the 3-meter-long (9.8 feet) letters spelling out the name from the terminal Saturday.

FYROM proceeds with airport, road renaming
The decision taken by Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and his cabinet to rename the country's main airport and a main highway has been made official.
The alterations are meant to be a goodwill gesture as talks over the name issue with Greece continue.

Skopje: A modern-day … ancient Agora or lil’ Caesar’s Palace?
One interesting travelogue recently focused on the land-locked country to Greece’s immediate north, the one-time Yugoslav republic known today – in some quarters and especially in Greece – as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (fYRoM).
The neophyte’s country’s leadership has, since 1991, insisted on the “Republic of Macedonia”.
