Investigation underway after elevator accident at Athens hospital

An internal investigation has been launched after four individuals were injured in an elevator fall at Athens' Erythros Stavros Hospital.

The incident occurred at 1.15 p.m. in elevator No 6, with four people inside: a recently discharged patient, their companion, and two private ambulance paramedics. The medical staff examined the injured individuals, confirming they sustained minor injuries and are under observation.

According to a statement from the First Health Region, the elevator was compliant with all safety regulations. The most recent maintenance took place on December 2 and 19, 2024, and the elevator's service contract remains in effect.
