The British investor I met during the ?Investing in Turkey Forum? meeting in London was curious about two things. First, he was interested in whether or not Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economy Ali Babacan and Finance Minister Mehmet ?im?ek will take part in the economy management after the June elections.

The stronger a country's established institutions and rules, the more advanced its democratic system and the more likely it will be an advanced economy, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said on April 11. 

The ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) top economy executives will be replaced in the June 7 election, according to its recently announced candidate list, while the opposition parties' nomination of leading economic figures apparently displayed their bid to show voters that they are ready to take power.

Turkey?s Justice and Development Party (AK Parti) government, which has been reelected since 2002, has been favored by international investors as a provider of a suitable investment environment.
There were two main reasons for this.

Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, a key figure responsible for the economy, will continue to be part of the economy team in the next government, Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has said, though questions remain as Babacan cannot run for parliament because of the ruling party?s internal three-term limit.
