Romania's COVID-19 daily case count rises by 541; tests performed in last 24 hours: 35,044
As many as 541 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Romania were recorded in the last 24 hours following 35,044 tests nationwide, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS), the official novel coronavirus communication task force, reported on Wednesday. These are cases of patients that have not previously tested positive.
Slovenia with highest daily count in new infections since 25 May
Ljubljana – From a total of 2,228 PCR tests analysed in Slovenia on Tuesday, 385 came back positive for coronavirus, up 67 from Monday. The positivity rate rose by 1.8 points to 17.3%, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) said on Wednesday. This is the highest daily tally of new confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country since 25 May.

England ends self-isolation for Covid contacts
Fully vaccinated people in England are from Aug. 16 no longer be required to self-isolate if they have had close contact with a coronavirus case, as restrictions continue to be eased.

Number of new infections on Friday highest since 3 June
Ljubljana – A total of 264 new coronavirus infections were confirmed in Slovenia on Friday in 1,869 PCR tests, for a positivity rate of 14.1%, up 3.3 percentage points compared to the day before. The number of new infections confirmed yesterday is by 65 higher than on Thursday, and is the highest daily number since 3 June.
Slovenia confirms 248 infections on Wednesday
Ljubljana – Another 248 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Wednesday after 1,828 PCR tests were performed for a positivity rate of 13.6%. The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents increased by seven to 88 and an estimate of active cases in the country rose to 1,900, show fresh official data.

133 new Covid cases confirmed on Friday, on par with a week ago
Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 133 new coronavirus cases on Friday as 1,575 PCR tests came back positive, putting the positivity rate at 8.4%. This compares to 135 new cases and a positivity rate of 8.1% a week ago. One Covid patient died.
Friday’s tally of new cases is by 11 lower than Thursday’s, but the number of PCR tests was also lower by 196.
