The phenomenon known as bleisure, or blended business and leisure travel, was initially embraced largely by digital nomads. Pet food one of pillars of online shopping

Ljubljana – One of the mainstay segments of online shopping is pet food, shows data from the price comparison platform Ceneje.si, which is part of the Heureka group. Demand in the dog food category rose by 14% year-on-year and in the cat food category by 65%. “Dog and cat owners have been buying food online during the pandemic as well, and we expect the trend to continue.

Daily coronavirus count persists at over 2,000

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,402 new coronavirus cases for Wednesday, around 130 fewer than on Tuesday but around 350 more than on Wednesday last week, shows latest Health Ministry data. Three persons died, while there were no major changes in the number of Covid patients in hospitals. The number of active cases is estimated at 23,421, up by 851 on the day before.

Coronavirus uptick persisting

Ljubljana – Slovenia logged 2,528 daily coronavirus cases on Tuesday, 708 more than a week ago but down significantly on Monday’s six-month record of 4,530. Four patients with Covid-19 died. Hospital care due to Covid-19 was needed for 73 people, including six at intensive units, respectively down by five and one on the day before, data released by the Health Ministry shows.

Paloma increases revenue but records loss

Sladki Vrh – Paloma, a maker of hygienic paper products, reported on Tuesday sales of EUR 90.5 million for 2021, a 20% increase over the year before, but the company suffered a net loss of almost EUR 7 million. Stevan Lomić, the new CEO appointed in April, wrote in the company’s annual report that Paloma, like many other companies, is affected by the turbulences in the markets.

Wheat purchase call fails as sole bid declared invalid

Ljubljana – Plans to create a large stockpile of wheat to help Slovenia weather the global food supply crisis have floundered after the only bid submitted in the National Commodities Reserves Agency’s open call was declared invalid because it did not include a financial guarantee. The bid has been rejected and the formal procedure has been completed, the agency said on Wednesday.

More than 2,500 Covid cases logged in past three days

Ljubljana – A total of 2,664 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovenia from Friday to Sunday in what is practically level with the figure a week ago, fresh official data shows. A total of three Covid patients died. Compared to the week before, the combined case count is nearly 2% up.
