ION completes its takeover of Lavdas
One of the sweetest business marriages has now become a reality, with the announcement on Thursday of the completion of the acquisition of the Lavdas candy factory by the ION chocolate industry.
The relevant agreement was announced last June and provides that Lavdas will continue to operate as an independent company but with the development of significant synergies with ION.

Elderly man found in back yard had been dead for a month, autopsy finds
The autopsy on the charred body of an elderly man that was found in the back yard of a house in northern Athens on Friday night has found that the deceased had been dead for around a month.
However, the medical examiner was unable to establish the cause of death of the 82 year old.
Man arrested after father’s charred body found in back yard
Police in the northern Athens district of Ano Liosia have arrested a man after finding the charred body of his elderly father in a yard at the back of a house.
Officers were alerted to the scene by neighbors, who complained of a stench coming from the property.

Hand grenades thrown at house in Ano Liosia, no injuries
Unknown assailants threw two hand grenades at a residence in Ano Liosia, northwest of Athens, in the early hours of Friday.
According to the police, at approximately 2.30 a.m., two individuals riding a motorcycle tossed hand grenades into the courtyard of a house occupied by Roma on Andrianoupoleos Street. Subsequently, they fled the scene.
The Fires in Greece rage on, including close to the Bulgarian Border
The fires in Greece are continuing. Last night, a new fire broke out - on the island of Samothrace.
The flames in the Greek part of the Rhodopes are heading towards Komotini at this hour, reports the Greek public television ERT. Several villages in the area are being evacuated.
According to preliminary estimates, the fire has burned 380,000 acres.
