Pandemic Increased Demand for Larger Apartments in Bulgaria
The Corona crisis has intensified the demand for larger homes and houses with courtyards in Bulgaria. In the last quarter of 2020 the purchased two-room apartments in Sofia are more than one-room, and the four-room dwellings have a share of 11%.
Large-scale luxury residential projects evolution in SEE
Large-scale luxury residential developments in the SEE region are rare as there is no tradition in this real estate segment. There have been some smaller projects or redevelopments of individual luxury units or penthouses and villas but no large-scale projects until recently. The market is developing though.
Sofia in 30th Place in Terms of Rising Property Prices
Sofia ranks 30th among 150 cities in the world in terms of rising residential property prices, according to the Residential Cities Index. Residential property prices in the capital rose 5.9% last year, with an average increase of 3.2% for all cities in the ranking. It turns out that the real estate market in Sofia performs better than in most major cities around the world.
Landlords opting for long-term
At least 2,270 houses and apartments in central Athens were taken off short-term rental platforms between the start of the year and the end of May, boosting the supply of properties for rent by the capital's residents.

Patience and love
The apartment is small, measuring 60 square meters and housing four brothers and their aging mother. The semi-basement where they have been living since 2003 has a separate entrance from the other tenants of the two-story building in the Athens neighborhood of Makrygianni, near the Acropolis Museum. It has two bedrooms, a small lounge, a kitchen and one bathroom/toilet.

Buildings resembling ‘Leaning Tower of Pisa’ in Turkey’s Rize stir fear
Four buildings built 30 years ago in the Black Sea province of Rize have stirred fear among locals after they began leaning downwards due to unstable foundation, with many residents likening it to the "Leaning Tower of Pisa" in Italy.
People living in the apartments in the buildings tried to strengthen the leaning structures with iron poles.
At the End of the Year, Residential Buildings Put into Operation Increased by 50%
According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, in the fourth quarter of 2019, the number of newly built residential buildings was 1,057 and the newly built dwellings in them were 4,474. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, the buildings were by 335 more (or by 46.4%), and the newly built dwellings in them increased by 2,101, or by 88.5%.
Fire breaks out in apartment in southern Athens
A fire broke out in a flat of an apartment building in Athens' southern suburb of Palio Faliro on Thursday morning.
The building is located at the corner of Proteos and Mouson Streets. It was not clear on which floor the blaze was.
A large firefighting unit were at the scene.

Woman charged over leasing fraud in Thessaloniki
A 35-year-old woman in Thessaloniki has been accused of defrauding prospective tenants by renting them an apartment in the city center that she did not own.
More specifically, the suspect put the apartment up for rent on residential rental websites. According to reports, she conned a total of four people, who gave her down payments for the apartment between September 23 and 29.
