Byzantine treasure found in Çanakkale
Sixty-eight gold coins, dating back 1,700 years, have been unearthed in excavations at the Temple of Apollo Smintheus in Gülpınar village of Ayvacık district in the northwestern province of Çanakkale.

Apollo’s other home on Despotiko
After 21 years of excavations on the uninhabited Aegean islet of Despotiko, some 28 nautical miles south of Delos, archaeologists say there is still much more to discover. Sofia Mayor: Bronze Statue of Apollo will be Returned to its Place in City Centre
The bronze statue of Apollo Medicus, which was stolen on December 16, will be returned to its place at the mineral water fountains in the centre of Sofia, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova wrote on Facebook. According to her post, the statue was found yesterday by police officers from the 5th police department.
