The Sultan of Turkish cinema, Türkan ?oray, returns to the director's chair after more than three decades with "Uzaklarda Arama" (Not Far Away)This week's new release of "Uzaklarda Arama" (Not Far Away) will serve as a notch in the history of Turkish cinema, despite opening to mostly poor reviews and disappointment for many in the audience.

Four arrested in bootleg alcohol raid in Antalya

Four people were arrested by a local court in Turkey's southern province of Antalya on Nov. 8 for ties to the production and sale of bootleg alcohol.

An Antalya court ruled the arrest of four suspects, identified only with their initials M.A, ?.Ç, ?.Y. and M.M., who were among six suspects detained in the city after 560 bottles of bootleg alcohol were seized in an operation.

Deneuve guest of honor in Antalya

The Lifetime Achievement Award of the 52nd International Antalya Film Festival will be presented to a legendary actress in cinematic history, Catherine Deneuve. 

According to a written statement made by the festival committee, the famous French actress, the festival's guest of honor, will receive her award at the opening ceremony of the festival to be held on Nov. 29. 

Antalya Film Festival's head of jury announced

The 52nd International Antalya Film Festival, which was previously the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, will be held between Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 this year. Director and screenwriter Ömer Varg? will head the jury of the festival's National Feature Film Competition, according to a written statement made by the festival office. 

Istanbul Film Festival to honor veteran filmmakers

The biggest cinema event in Turkey, the Istanbul Film Festival, is getting ready to kick off this Friday, April 4, for a 16-day extravaganza of cinema featuring more than 200 films, four competitions and dozens of guests. Organized for the 34th time, the festival will honor five veteran names in filmmaking with its Cinema Honorary Award, presented at the opening gala on April 3.
