Regional and global actors involved in the Syrian civil war are in intense diplomacy over an imminent military offensive by the Syrian regime on the last rebel-held stronghold of Idlib ahead of a three-way key summit between Turkey, Russia and Iran.

Russia's Ambassador to Ankara Aleksey Yerkhov has described the upcoming summit in Tehran with the participation of the leaders of Turkey, Russia and Iran as the "best opportunity" for resolving the Syrian problem amid concerns over a large-scale regime offensive into the rebel-held Idlib province. 

The United States announced it was halting funding for the United Nations' agency for Palestinian refugees Friday after declaring the organization was "irredeemably flawed."

Turkey took over the chairmanship of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Advisory Commission for one year on July 1, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
